Recall on Diabetes Drug Metformin

On May 28, 2020, the FDA announced a recall on Metformin and earlier on some ranitidine medicines, better known as Zantac to contain a nitrosamine impurity called NDMA, which is classified as a probable human carcinogen.

As of today, only 1 out of 5 companies has actually filed a recall. I'm not sure what the other companies are doing. I'll post a copy of the label for the recall lot number of Metformin at the end of this video.

I think it's also important to note that on February 3, of this year, the FDA posted lab results showing NDMA in Metformin from not detectable to LOW LEVELS.... so some samples had no NDMA in it and some had low levels. At that time, no sample of metformin which the FDA test exceeded the acceptable daily intake for NDMA.

I can't tell you what changed within the last 3 months with increased levels of this impurity in metformin and Zantac. I will keep you posted on FB and on my webpage ReverseMyDiabetes.net as more information becomes available.

Always talk with your doctor before stopping any medication. My job is to keep you aware!

This is why I talk to so many of you who want to reverse diabetes naturally. I went through the same issue with the medication I was prescribed years ago where the FDA eventually put a black box warning, the highest warning on medication. That's when I said no more and I reversed my diabetes without medication and insulin. If you're worried and need to talk, please just schedule a free consult right from my webpage, there's no obligation, no pushy sales pitch ~ it's just a way for you to discuss your concerns so you can be well informed. Be safe!

The FDA has contacted the following companies:

  • Actavis Pharma Inc.
  • Amneal Pharmaceuticals, LLC
  • Apotex Corp. (Has filed a RECALL)
  • Lupin Pharma
  • Marksans Pharma Ltd.
